What is SEO?
SEO or Search Engine Optimisation helps to determine whereabouts your website is listed in search engines such as Google, Bing, Yandex and Yahoo for a given search term.
What’s the number one reason for the websites not ranking for the desired terms and not appearing in SERP?
You probably get a lot of emails each day “offering” to get your website ranking number 1 for all the targeted keywords. But unfortunately, there is no easy fix (if there were, then everyone would have done it by now).
How does Google decide which website to list in the top of the SERP? It doesn’t do it randomly, that’s for sure. It uses algorithms to determine what your website is about and how relevant it is to the users search term.
The truth is – SEO is an ongoing process and certainly not a quick fix. It starts from the research of the business and its target market, direct and indirect competitors. And only after this both the website’s content and technical SEO strategy should be put in place to reflect the business goals and objectives, with great content that appeals to the users.
As a guideline – each product or service you supply should have it’s own dedicated website’s page. All the images need to come with the Alt attribute. The content has to have headings and they must feature the targeted keywords.
There are lots of things that Google looks at in order to determine how relevant the website to user’s search intent.
Google is “king” with more people using its search engine to find what they want online than anyone else’s, so, you need to keep Google happy too. We start by making sure your site has Google Analytics installed and is monitored using Google Webmaster Tools. Did you know that Google will actually tell you when or if it finds something wrong with your website once these things are set up?
But there are other search engines we have to remember about, such as: Yahoo and Bing need to be able to find your website too.
